About Us

A43 Design is a full-service architecture and interior design firm based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Our process begins with understanding the client’s goals and using their lifestyle and personal taste as the foundation for each project. Through this collaborative and iterative approach, we tailor every detail to the client’s vision. We balance functionality with creativity, resulting in spaces designed with intention. We strive to create environments that are not only visually stunning, but more importantly, resonate on an emotional level.

OUR TEAM

Chris Jaubert

  • A Louisiana native, Chris spent countless hours as a youth drawing everything from cars and planes to people and animals. After discovering a handful of interior design stencils owned by his best friend’s mother, Chris started drawing floor plans for imaginary houses. He was enamored with studying the spatial organizations as well as the proportions and relationships of the elements of a home. Knowing that his grandfather once studied architecture, it was in his blood to follow the same path.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Louisiana Tech University in 2006, Chris ventured to Jackson Hole to discover new challenges and unique experiences. After working for two larger, prominent firms in Jackson, Chris decided it was time to scale things down a bit and focus on developing more direct client relationships while continuing to follow his passion of high-end custom design. He founded A43 Architecture in 2016 and has enjoyed every step along the way.

When not at work, he is raising two sons with his wife Jessica, and enjoying every moment to ski, mountain bike or fly fish throughout Wyoming and the Rocky Mountain West.

Trey Terral

  • Born in central Louisiana, but raised all over the United States and Canada, Trey has a background that has cultivated eclectic tastes and a genuine curiosity in the new. This also developed in him an insatiable want for exploration. Architecture provided an outlet for artistic flourish and a necessity for technical innovation, “a worldly microcosm for the aspiring polymath”.

He began his career alongside Chris, designing homes in the shadow of the Tetons, but has since practiced in firms specializing in urban design and residential, educational, commercial, and brewery architecture in several states. He has also taught architecture and urban design as an instructor at the University of Arkansas. Through all these experiences, practicing architecture in the mountains of Jackson Hole has always shined through as one of the most satisfying and challenging applications of his abilities.

Trey received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Arkansas and his Master of Advanced Architectural Design degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of architecture, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, playing music, hiking, and traveling as much as possible.

Reed Duggan

  • Born and raised in the piney hills of northern Louisiana, Reed grew up working various jobs within the construction industry. He eventually traded in a tool belt for trace paper and became engrossed in the world of design.

After graduating from Louisiana Tech University in 2015 with a BA in Interior Design, Reed was drawn to the rugged mountains of the Northern Rockies. Reed spent time at two of the premier design firms in Jackson Hole before joining the A43 team in 2020. He has developed a holistic approach to design that acknowledges an honest, harmonious connection between people, architecture, interior design, and the wild landscapes of the American West.

Reed spends his free time cooking, listening to podcasts, and soaking up the outdoors. You’re likely to find him scrambling to the top of unnamed peaks with his dog, skiing the Tetons, or conversing with friends around a campfire.

Mark Decker

  • Raised in the evergreen landscapes of Washington State, Mark grew up studying engineering plans and wandering construction job sites, fascinated by how ideas became structures. His early years were spent building pole barns, fighting wildland forest fires, and even constructing ski chairs in the mountains of Colorado, all hands-on experiences that grounded his love for the built environment.

After earning his Bachelor of Architecture from Washington State University in 2005, he moved to Jackson to explore the backcountry and begin his architectural career, where he first met and worked alongside Chris of A43 Architecture. His path since has been one of adventure and growth: designing high-end homes for a residential developer in Hawaii, carving out time in Whitefish to immerse himself in the mountains, managing major national projects in Scottsdale as part of a leading general contractor, and eventually settling in Salt Lake City as the Director of VDC for one of the region’s largest builders.

Now joining the A43 team, Mark brings a depth of field experience and a passion for helping clients shape environments that feel both personal and connected to the outdoors. He believes great spaces come from understanding people’s dreams and honoring the landscapes those dreams inhabit.

When he’s not in the office, Mark can be found golfing with his wife, running mountain trails, or chasing his two young boys on bikes and skis throughout the West.

Lauren Smith

  • Born and raised in Northern California, Lauren has always followed her creative curiosity. Whether it’s music, immersive art, or good food, she’s endlessly inspired by the people, places, sounds, and flavors that surround her.

Lauren graduated from Boston University with a BFA in Graphic Design and began her career crafting one-of-a-kind visual identities and thoughtful creative solutions for clients. After moving to Jackson, WY in 2017, she continued to grow her design practice, collaborating with local businesses and non-profits like the Animal Adoption Center, Skida, Center for the Arts, History Jackson Hole, and the Community Foundation. Over time, her work naturally evolved beyond branding and illustration, and she found herself increasingly drawn to designing spaces.

Now as the Interior Design Coordinator at A43 Design, Lauren brings that same curiosity and creative energy into designing spaces that feel human-centered, warm, and intentional.

Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending her time djing, listening to music, riding her bike, cooking for friends, or finding scruffy dogs to pet.

OUR Approach

Thoughtful

Every facet of a project is meticulously considered and weighed against a central concept. The result is a detailed, cohesive design.

Honest

Honesty goes beyond transparent business practices and extends into the realm of design. We believe in honest buildings and the honest use of materials.

Collaborative

A great project takes more than a design team; it takes good clients, sharp contractors, and creative engineers. We believe our design process promotes the level of collaboration necessary for an excellent product.

  • “Chris and his team are delightful to work with. They are creative, responsive and efficient. We have worked with them on over five projects at three different houses and they have been great at every one. Also, their deep knowledge of the Jackson Hole market helps to ensure efficiency at every step of the process from planning to permitting to construction administration.”

    Jason P, Client

  • “Chris is a true professional. Easy to work with. He has been working very closely with all of the engineers involved in my project. The approval from Teton County came within a week of submitting. That really is unheard of! I have been very pleased with his design created by my vision. I am looking forward to breaking ground next year.”

    Jason D, Client

  • “JTec Inc. has been working with A43 Architecture since they started, and we have worked with Chris since 2008. We appreciate their approach to work, which includes creative and practical solutions, and their dedication to the job and their clients.
